CASTAWAYS RESORT, KARIOITAHI BEACH, NEW ZEALAND DESTINATION WEDDING – DONNA & DAVE
IF YOU’RE PLANNING A DESTINATION WEDDING AT CASTAWAYS RESORT IN KARIOITAHI BEACH, NEW ZEALAND, I WOULD LOVE TO GET BACK THERE, SO Y’KNOW, HERES MY NUMBER, CALL ME MAYBE?!
Donna and Dave got married at Castaways Resort, which is on top a cliff, over looking the simply amazing (I make no apologies for using that word over and over again) black sand beach at Karioitahi. in Waiuku, on the west coast of New Zealands North Island with ocean views. It was the most amazing (told you!), stunning, fantastic, gorgeous, brilliant, amazing time and and being English – I got sunburn :(! New Zealand Destination Wedding Photographer.
The serious part
The ceremony was a beautiful service on the cliff top, overlooking the ocean. During the ceremony they read their own vows and it was pretty bloody emotional let me tell you. In the words of Meatloaf – not a dry eye in the house!
They decorated the area with simple, colours and accessories that perfectly suited the location and vibe of the day, which I loved. The reception was in the main room and in the grounds at Castaways Resort – I love this venue because well, just look at! Weddings at Castaways Resort are amazing, because the surroundings are straight out of a holiday brochure.
Why Castaways Resort is a great place to get married
Castaways Resort is perfect for couples who want a chilled out wedding, and is one of the most amazing (!) places to get married in Waiuku, on the west coast of New Zealands North Island. The venue offers an onsite hotel so guests don’t have to travel home – and there are loads of amazing places that are perfect for photos.
They had drinks and canapés in the afternoon, and a simply stunning party in the evening. For dinner they had an amazing (nope, still not bored of that word!) meal and they generously laid on a place for me too. The first dance was a romantic slow dance and with Daves encouragement, everyone else joined them. They finished off the evening with a huge buffet.
Donna wore a classic white dress and Dave wore a traditional suit with the funkiest socks and they looked really beautiful.
The couple got in touch with me on facebook when after Donna asked on Facebook if anyone knew a photographer near her. Now me and Donna grew up next door to each in good old Redditch back in the UK but as happens we lost touch (this was pre Facebook!), she moved off to NZ to meet the man of her dreams. That message prompted us to have a really special catch up about everything that had gone on in the intervening years. The rest is history and we had such an amazing time with more fun than can you shake a jandal at.
They wanted a photographer they could trust, who would produce stunning images, not stress them out and make them at ease in front of the camera, and I loved that they just really wanted me there. In fairness, it could have been a really simple service at my local registry office and I would still have been there.
