EMMA & DARREN

IF YOU’RE PLANNING A WEDDING AT WHITLEY HALL IN SHEFFIELD, YOU’LL ENJOY THIS!

Emma and Darren got married at Whitley Hall which is an ivy-clad 16th century mansion surrounded by 20 acres of stunning gardens & grounds. Nestled in a peaceful valley the 16th century manor house is the perfect backdrop for you to create a unique, elegant and unforgettable day for you and your family and friends. It was a beautiful day and even the rain didn’t dampen things – in fact it helped create one of their favourite images of the day!

The Wedding

The ceremony was a beautiful service in an intimate, delicately detailed room. During the ceremony they had several tear jerking readings from friends and family. It was really emotional.

They decorated the area with wildflowers, which I loved. The reception was in a private room at Whitley Hall – I love this venue because the light is gorgeous for portraits and candids.  The whole team of staff are absolutely amazing at giving you the most fantastic day.

Why Whitley Hall is a great place to get married

Whitley Hall is really peaceful and secluded, and is one of the most private places to get married in Sheffield. The venue offers an onsite hotel so guests don’t have to travel home – and there are loads of amazing places that are perfect for photos.

The Party

The couple had drinks and canapés in the afternoon, and a mind blowing magician in the evening. One of the great things about this wedding was that I used to work with Emma before embarking on my photography career and many of the guests were old work colleagues too! I loved seeing them all again, you know how you lose touch with people when you change jobs!? For dinner they had a buffet, and the first dance was a good old traditional wedding shuffle.

The Couple

Emma wore a traditional white gown and Darren wore a three-piece suit and they looked perfect.

The couple got in touch with me years ago, and their enquiry was so personal. They said they wanted a relaxed photographer, and I loved that they were so fun. I absolutely love shooting weddings with people that are focused on the natural, relaxed vibe without a lot of the boring, awkward, fussy posed stuff.

Advice for planning your wedding at Whitley Hall

It really doesn’t matter what time of the year you get married here because it looks stunning the whole year round. The hall, the garden, the trees – perfect for a country lover. Autumn is probably my favourite though with the golden leaves and early evening sunsets it’s just stunning.
